ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture is used to regulate the nervous and circulatory systems to restore the body’s proper functioning. When our systems are revved and blood isn’t moving properly, we can experience discomfort, pain, hormones imbalance, low immunity, emotional unrest, and sleeping problems to name a few. Acupuncture helps to keep the body in check by regulating the nervous system, increasing circulation and reducing inflammation, ultimately allowing the body to regain proper functioning.

Acupuncture entails the use of super fine, single use needles, placed in different parts of the body. There are different acupuncture techniques I use in my practice, such as traditional needling methods, electro-acupuncture, and dry needling techniques. The method that is most appropriate for your health concerns will be determined at your visit, and may change from visit to visit. All methods used are always within the patients comfort level.

Moxibustion & Cupping

MOXIBUSTION

MOXIBUSTION (moxa) is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves the burning of dried mugwort/ai ye to stimulate specific acupuncture points or areas the body. During a moxibustion session, the ignited moxa is either applied directly to the skin with a protective barrier (direct moxibustion) or held above the skin at a safe distance (indirect moxibustion).

The heat generated by moxibustion penetrates deeply and helps to promote blood circulation and reduce inflammation in the body. Its warming and nourishing qualities are used for a variety of concerns like joint pain, painful periods, turning breech babies, and is one of my favorite labor prep and postpartum tools!

CUPPING is an additional traditional Chinese medicine tool that involve the placing of glass or plastic “cups” on the body utilizing a suctioning of the skin and superficial muscle layers. Cups are used to help reduce pain and increase blow flow and can also be used to address respiratory, digestive and period related complaints.
